| Description: In front of Yu Xuan Yuan Bed & Breakfast is a green tunnel, and behind it, a pond and garden. Situated on Tainan Road 90, it is in close proximity to the hundred-year-old mango tree green tunnel, as well as fields of lotuses and paddies of rice. Looking out across the Jianan Plain, a huge expanse of greenery and fields as far as the eye can see, is an amazing experience. In the early morning or at dusk, why not take a walk or ride, watch the sun rise/set, breathe deep of the fresh air, and relax? Or how about just taking in the majestic sight of Mt. Guanzihling (Guanziling) A mere 15-minute walk will get you to the Lotus Information Center, and one kilometer to the west sits the Linchupi Cotton Trail. About five kilometers to the west lies Xiaonanhai Natural Ecological Park, and 1.5 kilometers to the north is Lianhua (Lotus) Park. Baihe Township is 4.5km south of Yu Xuan Yuan, and about 14km to the east is Guanzihling (Guanziling), a wonderful place for a drive or a ride, with the promise of hot springs at the end! Behind Yu Xuan Yuan itself sits a “secret garden” complete with fountain, lotuses, and carp, as well as a beautiful pagoda that combines classic and modern design. With fruit trees and shrubs abounding, the air is crisp and clean, making it a refreshing place to relax and listen to nature, far from the madding crowds. The lotuses are at the best between June and August each year, filling the air with fragrance — and if you want to fully enjoy them at their peak, the best time would be between 6am and 8am. In March, the cotton trees bloom, while May sees the golden shower trees on show; April and May are also when the mangoes and passionfruit are at their best, while June offers the chance to try your hand at picking fully ripened mangoes. December, meanwhile, is the perfect time to try picking, or just appreciating, the lotus roots and having a go at making lotus flour — and of course, you’ll need somewhere to spend the night too! A stay here is truly great for the mind, body, and soul. Yu Xuan Yuan Bed & Breakfast has been running for over 13 years now, and was even recognized by the Tourism Bureau, Republic of China (Taiwan) in 2011 as one of the “100 Happy Stays” and received a “Taiwan Host” award in 2012! It truly is a place well worth a visit! |
