歷史沿革舊鼓山國小原為日治時期的蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校。小學校是專供通日語的學童(幾乎為日籍學童)就讀，學習科目與日本本土一般的尋常小學校完全相同。臺灣推行小學校教育體制始於明治31年(1898)7月28日臺灣總督府所頒佈「小學校令」，當時僅於樞要地區如基隆、臺北、臺南、新竹等地設立，蕃薯藔街地處沿山邊陲，小學校的籌設較晚，然而也勢必有一過渡階段。 明治36年(1903)12月1日，蕃薯藔街日本住民集體向蕃薯藔公學校訴請屆齡子弟得以就學，在尚未設置小學校的前提下，這些日本內地人子弟順利進入蕃薯藔公學校就讀，並與臺灣學童混合授課。明治39年(1906)5月臺灣總督府要求內臺子弟應分流教學，同年6月1日起蕃薯藔公學校內另設內地人子弟的教授所，在同一學校內實施內臺學童分開授課。為了改善內臺學童授課的問題，明治42年(1909)4月另設蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校，但是，校舍仍暫以蕃薯藔公學校充用。大正元年(1912)6月，蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校的新校舍正式落成，隨即遷出，蕃薯藔公學校成為純然臺灣人子弟學校，蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校則為日籍子弟的學校。 蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校校園由講堂(大禮堂)、辦公廳及北棟教室所構成，並由廊道串連合為一氣，整體建築也較為講究。一入校門，正面就是大禮堂，入口門廊有造型優雅的三連拱及圓拱窗，屋頂尖端為木造的交叉山牆，辦公廳正面線條簡潔、連續窗楣延續至入口做一轉折之承接，其高度恰當，與禮堂之配置合宜。北棟教室一樓為平拱廊，二樓為圓拱廊，比例優美，尺度親切，為日治時期學校建築之佳作。 戰後，政府接收後改為鼓山國民小學，首任校長陳春風。民國90年(2001)間鼓山國小遷移至新校區，日治以來的舊建築如禮堂、辦公廳及北棟教室被指定為古蹟。這些建築與空間，文化局透過空間修復工程、景觀改善工程及閒置空間再利用之委託管理維護等，結合「藝文生活」、「公益服務」、「終身學習」的概念賦予新的使用方式，並重定名為「旗山生活文化園區」，使舊建築再現新生命。

外觀特徵從外觀判斷，「禮堂」、「辦公室」與「北棟教室」主體皆為磚承重構造，樓版、樑、開口等部位則以鋼骨或鋼筋混凝土施作補強。 「禮堂」面寬約12公尺，縱深約25公尺，一層樓雙斜屋頂造型；前方附加門廊，設置三個拱型門洞作為主要出入口，其圓拱收邊做法雷同旗山國小的「石拱圈校舍」，拱洞之間為扥次坎(tuscan)造型的附壁雙矮柱。前後山牆面設有雙連圓拱氣窗，具仿羅馬建築風格。 二向側立面各設五個長形圓拱窗及三座側門，門洞有圓拱及平拱二種造型，形成有趣的對比。 二側立面各有一平頂走廊向外延伸，銜接南、北二棟教室。禮堂內部原有天花已遭更換，上方木屋架卻保存十分良好，未見蟲柱缺損。 另舊有舞台與其左、右及後方準備空間未遭更改，門窗五金與牆面裝飾多仍維持當初形貌，而類似日治時期之舞台外觀能保持如此完整者相當少見，應妥加保護。 「北棟教室」為長方形配置型態，單側(南向)留設走道；面寬約47公尺，進深約10公尺，二層樓。 走道外側以三個為一組且高達二樓的連續圓拱圈構成富韻律感的正立面；目前西端增建廁所一棟，因配置型態改變，柱上有裂縫產生。 「辦公室」造型更為簡潔，所有開口皆為平拱，牆面僅以水平挑版作線狀修飾。由外觀造型及窗戶形式判斷，其二樓可能曾遭改建。
室內特徵鼓山國小因持續作為學校使用，為適應不同時期的需求，各棟建築或多或少都有修改或增添設備的痕跡。
使用情形於90年2月遷校後，目前呈閒置狀態，平日上鎖，偶見永續工程人員照顧花木。
應重點維護之事項目前校區由文化局委託原鼓山國小校方負責日常管理維護工作並請永續工程人員協助打掃清潔。
現狀目前暫不開放。 目前仍在使用，須訂於90年(2001)搬至新校舍，整個校舍保存良好，將規劃為文化特區，供廣大民眾休憩及活動用。 目前該校已遷移至(延平一路)的新校區上課，此處透過空間修復及改善工程等施作使舊建築再現新生命；並整合社會局、教育局與文化局三方行政資源，加強社區自立自發精神，凝聚旗山居民對(舊)鼓山國小地方文化的認同，成為融合「藝文生活」、「公益服務」、「終身學習」的休閒空間，目前已定名為「旗山文化生活園區」。

歷史沿革: 舊鼓山國小原為日治時期的蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校。小學校是專供通日語的學童(幾乎為日籍學童)就讀，學習科目與日本本土一般的尋常小學校完全相同。臺灣推行小學校教育體制始於明治31年(1898)7月28日臺灣總督府所頒佈「小學校令」，當時僅於樞要地區如基隆、臺北、臺南、新竹等地設立，蕃薯藔街地處沿山邊陲，小學校的籌設較晚，然而也勢必有一過渡階段。 明治36年(1903)12月1日，蕃薯藔街日本住民集體向蕃薯藔公學校訴請屆齡子弟得以就學，在尚未設置小學校的前提下，這些日本內地人子弟順利進入蕃薯藔公學校就讀，並與臺灣學童混合授課。明治39年(1906)5月臺灣總督府要求內臺子弟應分流教學，同年6月1日起蕃薯藔公學校內另設內地人子弟的教授所，在同一學校內實施內臺學童分開授課。為了改善內臺學童授課的問題，明治42年(1909)4月另設蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校，但是，校舍仍暫以蕃薯藔公學校充用。大正元年(1912)6月，蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校的新校舍正式落成，隨即遷出，蕃薯藔公學校成為純然臺灣人子弟學校，蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校則為日籍子弟的學校。 蕃薯藔尋常高等小學校校園由講堂(大禮堂)、辦公廳及北棟教室所構成，並由廊道串連合為一氣，整體建築也較為講究。一入校門，正面就是大禮堂，入口門廊有造型優雅的三連拱及圓拱窗，屋頂尖端為木造的交叉山牆，辦公廳正面線條簡潔、連續窗楣延續至入口做一轉折之承接，其高度恰當，與禮堂之配置合宜。北棟教室一樓為平拱廊，二樓為圓拱廊，比例優美，尺度親切，為日治時期學校建築之佳作。 戰後，政府接收後改為鼓山國民小學，首任校長陳春風。民國90年(2001)間鼓山國小遷移至新校區，日治以來的舊建築如禮堂、辦公廳及北棟教室被指定為古蹟。這些建築與空間，文化局透過空間修復工程、景觀改善工程及閒置空間再利用之委託管理維護等，結合「藝文生活」、「公益服務」、「終身學習」的概念賦予新的使用方式，並重定名為「旗山生活文化園區」，使舊建築再現新生命。

外觀特徵: 從外觀判斷，「禮堂」、「辦公室」與「北棟教室」主體皆為磚承重構造，樓版、樑、開口等部位則以鋼骨或鋼筋混凝土施作補強。 「禮堂」面寬約12公尺，縱深約25公尺，一層樓雙斜屋頂造型；前方附加門廊，設置三個拱型門洞作為主要出入口，其圓拱收邊做法雷同旗山國小的「石拱圈校舍」，拱洞之間為扥次坎(tuscan)造型的附壁雙矮柱。前後山牆面設有雙連圓拱氣窗，具仿羅馬建築風格。 二向側立面各設五個長形圓拱窗及三座側門，門洞有圓拱及平拱二種造型，形成有趣的對比。 二側立面各有一平頂走廊向外延伸，銜接南、北二棟教室。禮堂內部原有天花已遭更換，上方木屋架卻保存十分良好，未見蟲柱缺損。 另舊有舞台與其左、右及後方準備空間未遭更改，門窗五金與牆面裝飾多仍維持當初形貌，而類似日治時期之舞台外觀能保持如此完整者相當少見，應妥加保護。 「北棟教室」為長方形配置型態，單側(南向)留設走道；面寬約47公尺，進深約10公尺，二層樓。 走道外側以三個為一組且高達二樓的連續圓拱圈構成富韻律感的正立面；目前西端增建廁所一棟，因配置型態改變，柱上有裂縫產生。 「辦公室」造型更為簡潔，所有開口皆為平拱，牆面僅以水平挑版作線狀修飾。由外觀造型及窗戶形式判斷，其二樓可能曾遭改建。
室內特徵: 鼓山國小因持續作為學校使用，為適應不同時期的需求，各棟建築或多或少都有修改或增添設備的痕跡。
使用情形: 於90年2月遷校後，目前呈閒置狀態，平日上鎖，偶見永續工程人員照顧花木。
應重點維護之事項: 目前校區由文化局委託原鼓山國小校方負責日常管理維護工作並請永續工程人員協助打掃清潔。
現狀: 目前暫不開放。 目前仍在使用，須訂於90年(2001)搬至新校舍，整個校舍保存良好，將規劃為文化特區，供廣大民眾休憩及活動用。 目前該校已遷移至(延平一路)的新校區上課，此處透過空間修復及改善工程等施作使舊建築再現新生命；並整合社會局、教育局與文化局三方行政資源，加強社區自立自發精神，凝聚旗山居民對(舊)鼓山國小地方文化的認同，成為融合「藝文生活」、「公益服務」、「終身學習」的休閒空間，目前已定名為「旗山文化生活園區」。

歷史沿革日治末期，為了防禦盟軍的空襲，日本軍方在三重興建防砲陣地，其中的一個距離臺灣總督府的防砲陣地便在今日三重一村的位置。光復後，三重地區的日軍的軍事陣地由二○五師青年軍所接收。 空軍三重一村位於新北市三重區正義南路與同安東街路口，是一空軍防砲部隊的眷村，於民國四十三（1954）年由蔣宋美齡女士協同中華民國婦女反共聯合會募款出資興建完成，至今已有50餘年的歷史。 在臺北地區，多數眷村集中在臺北市及近郊地區，尤其鄰近的三重、永和、五股是第一波移民遷居的焦點，其中，三重除有部隊進駐外，還有大型軍眷居住區。 民國九十六（2007）年，全村搬遷，並已於民國九十五（2006）年8月28日全區登錄為歷史建築。

指定登錄理由（一）空軍三重一村為目前三重地區空軍防砲眷村較完整之個案，眷舍區分為甲、乙、丙及特級四種，由其大小反應出住戶之官階倫理，具眷村建築文化之特色。 ﹝二﹞眷村內有日治時期大型防空洞及防衛台北地區之高射砲或五零機槍之陣地遺址，足見其在日治時期之重要戰略地位，可以見證二次大戰之歷史。

外觀特徵空軍三重一村以防砲陣地遺跡為中心，房舍包圍遺跡排列，正門主要面向著包圍圈內，形成一個封閉、內聚性高的獨特空間。建物大部分為1-4層樓水泥、磚造樓房，眷舍之間，因經過長期的更改及擴建，已發展成連棟接壁、緊緊相連的樣貌，更增添了全區的包被感。 資料來源：民國98年8月出版臺北縣歷史建築「空軍三重一村」修復及再利用計畫、民國108年8月出版新北市歷史建築「空軍三重一村建物暨防砲陣地」修復工程工作報告書
室內特徵全區建物眾多，大致分為四類 1.丙級眷舍 建物平面呈現前後狹長狀，由四個單元串連而成。由正面入口進入，一樓平面單元依序為客廳、樓梯間、房間、廚衛服務空間。客廳大致保留原始格局大小，並可見到民國 60 年以前改建之舊式樑、進入防洪樓之天花開孔通道，室內天花高度甚低；與前門巷道和後方樓梯間有一階高差，地坪可能曾經填高。樓梯間猶如一天井，衝通三樓，階差大而陡。或因多次加建，各樓層之階梯材質、階高、走向皆未統一，甚至有與隔鄰樓梯間僅以透空鐵窗分格而無壁面的情況，至為奇特。後半新建部分房間與廚衛空間之一樓地坪，與樓梯間有1階高差，與後巷室外地坪有2階高差。 2.乙級眷舍 原平面呈L型，兩兩組合成長方形。改建擴增時，主要還是向前後院發展。其中一棟位於邊間，故也向側邊空地發展。建物一樓 L 型平面大致可分為三個單元，前後各一空間，另分支出一組廚衛空間。 3.甲級眷舍 平面呈四方形，左右鄰接形成連棟。原始立面約為丙級眷舍的 2 倍寬。現況除建築物改建擴增，仍保有前院形式，但其範圍已比原本擴增。其內部空間與建物形式，因各戶各自改建，幾乎已完全不復原貌，且相互歧異。總體而言格局方正、有前院及圍牆、頂樓有雨棚或小面積閣樓為共通點。 4.特級眷舍 原為室內16坪左右的平房，各自獨立並不相鄰，並有竹籬圍設院落。因周圍腹地較寬廣，且依傍於防砲陣地遺跡高坡上，改建擴增型態甚為多樣，建物組織也較無規則。多半是以原有主屋為中心擴張，分支出數個衍伸空間，或於庭院中較遠處增設與主屋不相連的空間。各家各自擴張的結果，是衍伸空間最終互相鄰接，建物之間地坪高差大，院落邊界推移，在推移後的邊界上新設出入口等等。這使得全區建物看來錯落交織，室內空間數量很多，並有多重出入口，益顯複雜。 資料來源：民國98年8月出版臺北縣歷史建築「空軍三重一村」修復及再利用計畫、民國108年8月出版新北市歷史建築「空軍三重一村建物暨防砲陣地」修復工程工作報告書
使用情形園區除了藝術作品的進駐與導覽活動外，包含有劇場、餐廳、輕食、酒吧、民宿、青旅及展場。

歷史沿革: 日治末期，為了防禦盟軍的空襲，日本軍方在三重興建防砲陣地，其中的一個距離臺灣總督府的防砲陣地便在今日三重一村的位置。光復後，三重地區的日軍的軍事陣地由二○五師青年軍所接收。 空軍三重一村位於新北市三重區正義南路與同安東街路口，是一空軍防砲部隊的眷村，於民國四十三（1954）年由蔣宋美齡女士協同中華民國婦女反共聯合會募款出資興建完成，至今已有50餘年的歷史。 在臺北地區，多數眷村集中在臺北市及近郊地區，尤其鄰近的三重、永和、五股是第一波移民遷居的焦點，其中，三重除有部隊進駐外，還有大型軍眷居住區。 民國九十六（2007）年，全村搬遷，並已於民國九十五（2006）年8月28日全區登錄為歷史建築。

外觀特徵: 空軍三重一村以防砲陣地遺跡為中心，房舍包圍遺跡排列，正門主要面向著包圍圈內，形成一個封閉、內聚性高的獨特空間。建物大部分為1-4層樓水泥、磚造樓房，眷舍之間，因經過長期的更改及擴建，已發展成連棟接壁、緊緊相連的樣貌，更增添了全區的包被感。 資料來源：民國98年8月出版臺北縣歷史建築「空軍三重一村」修復及再利用計畫、民國108年8月出版新北市歷史建築「空軍三重一村建物暨防砲陣地」修復工程工作報告書
室內特徵: 全區建物眾多，大致分為四類 1.丙級眷舍 建物平面呈現前後狹長狀，由四個單元串連而成。由正面入口進入，一樓平面單元依序為客廳、樓梯間、房間、廚衛服務空間。客廳大致保留原始格局大小，並可見到民國 60 年以前改建之舊式樑、進入防洪樓之天花開孔通道，室內天花高度甚低；與前門巷道和後方樓梯間有一階高差，地坪可能曾經填高。樓梯間猶如一天井，衝通三樓，階差大而陡。或因多次加建，各樓層之階梯材質、階高、走向皆未統一，甚至有與隔鄰樓梯間僅以透空鐵窗分格而無壁面的情況，至為奇特。後半新建部分房間與廚衛空間之一樓地坪，與樓梯間有1階高差，與後巷室外地坪有2階高差。 2.乙級眷舍 原平面呈L型，兩兩組合成長方形。改建擴增時，主要還是向前後院發展。其中一棟位於邊間，故也向側邊空地發展。建物一樓 L 型平面大致可分為三個單元，前後各一空間，另分支出一組廚衛空間。 3.甲級眷舍 平面呈四方形，左右鄰接形成連棟。原始立面約為丙級眷舍的 2 倍寬。現況除建築物改建擴增，仍保有前院形式，但其範圍已比原本擴增。其內部空間與建物形式，因各戶各自改建，幾乎已完全不復原貌，且相互歧異。總體而言格局方正、有前院及圍牆、頂樓有雨棚或小面積閣樓為共通點。 4.特級眷舍 原為室內16坪左右的平房，各自獨立並不相鄰，並有竹籬圍設院落。因周圍腹地較寬廣，且依傍於防砲陣地遺跡高坡上，改建擴增型態甚為多樣，建物組織也較無規則。多半是以原有主屋為中心擴張，分支出數個衍伸空間，或於庭院中較遠處增設與主屋不相連的空間。各家各自擴張的結果，是衍伸空間最終互相鄰接，建物之間地坪高差大，院落邊界推移，在推移後的邊界上新設出入口等等。這使得全區建物看來錯落交織，室內空間數量很多，並有多重出入口，益顯複雜。 資料來源：民國98年8月出版臺北縣歷史建築「空軍三重一村」修復及再利用計畫、民國108年8月出版新北市歷史建築「空軍三重一村建物暨防砲陣地」修復工程工作報告書
使用情形: 園區除了藝術作品的進駐與導覽活動外，包含有劇場、餐廳、輕食、酒吧、民宿、青旅及展場。

歷史沿革乾隆51年(1786)10月，林爽文起兵於中部，南路夥首莊大田率兩千之眾響應，後來兩度攻入興隆莊舊城(今左營舊城)，鳳山縣城陷落。乾隆53年(1788)正月福康安奉命平定南路，鑑於舊城殘破不堪，乃將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。 鳳山新城初期僅環植刺竹，編棘為籬，頗為簡陋。嘉慶5年(1800)海盜蔡牽侵犯鹿耳門，官兵疲於奔命，汪降乘機在鳳山縣起事，後兵敗被捕。知縣吳兆麟鑑於民變威脅而強化防禦工事，乃於嘉慶9年(1804)督促兵、民，興建四方共六座的城門。嘉慶10年(1805)11月蔡牽的黨羽朱濆再度騷擾鳳山縣，土匪吳淮泗等賊眾響應攻城，吳兆麟被害，都司鍾璽力戰陣亡，下埤頭新城被賊眾屯踞八十餘日。幾次民變大大衝擊新城的合宜性，於是遷回舊城的意見浮上檯面，地方要員議論紛紛。道光4年(1824)10月間爆發許尚、楊良斌之亂，新城再度被亂民攻陷，至此，地方官員決議進行舊城的改築工程。道光5年(1825)知府方傳穟倡議以官民捐輸方式籌措修建舊城的經費，在方傳穟的努力下，舊城改築工程於道光5年(1825)7月15日動工，道光6年(1826)8月15日竣工。這是台灣第一座石造城池，然而鳳山知縣與紳民皆未遷回，依然滯留新城。 道光17年(1837)正月，曹謹奉命擔任鳳山縣知縣，隨之展開大規模的水圳興築工程，是為曹公圳。隔年(1838)，曹謹在六座城門上增建城樓，復於四隅築建礮臺六座，並外濬環城濠塹再注入曹公圳圳水而成為護城河，使得新城的防禦能力大大提昇。在曹謹積極的建設下，新城更為堅固，民生社會也更為穩定。因此，縱然道光23年(1843)間福建巡撫程祖洛明令速速遷回舊城，官民依然延宕不遷。為了釐清其中問題，閩浙總督劉韻珂派人實地調查兩城的概況，舊城沒落蕭條，而新城受到紳民所喜愛。道光27年(1847)劉韻珂會同福建巡撫徐繼畬向道光皇帝上奏，擬議鳳山縣城定於下埤頭街新城，最後獲得皇帝的應允，雙城之爭終告結束。可見，新城已經是當時鳳山縣無法替代的政經中心。自此之後，僅咸豐4年(1854)參將曾元福修建土牆，使新城更為完善。 日治初期鳳山新城仍是地方重鎮，不過位於西邊的打狗港日益受到重視，因此通往打狗地區的道路日益重要。明治36年(1903)，為了擴建鳳山街到苓雅寮道路而拆毀西門。明治40年(1907)間，南部鐵道系統從打狗向東延長至九曲堂，鳳山也設置停車場，隨之新道路的需求而局部拆毀北面的土牆和刺竹圍籬，總之，都市發展趨勢日益衝擊既有的縣城樣貌。昭和3年(1928)，地方政府以改善公共衛生為由，將清領時期縣城既有土牆和兩萬多株的刺竹加以剷除，並進行今日中山路和光遠路的取直工程。至此，清領時期鳳山新城僅餘留部分殘跡，包括：東便門(三民路底)、平成砲台(曹公路旁)、訓風砲台(中山路旁)、澄瀾砲台(立志街旁)等。而東便門門外的東福橋因民國90年(2001)潭美颱風來襲倒塌，目前二座橋墩已移至岸上保存。

外觀特徵1.東便門及東福橋：東便門為單栱道之城門建築咾咕石結構物，表面被覆以水泥沙漿，並於城門內栱間嵌入鋼筋便梯以便登城頂。 城門頂舖紅色地磚，四周外緣鋼筋露頭結以鐵線圍繞。而東福橋是目前全台僅存的清代橋樑之一，六角形的船形橋墩，橋面石板雖然尚存，然而已加舖混凝土與瀝青道路。 2.三砲台：三座砲台訓風、澄瀾、平成，整體構築皆以咾咕石組砌牆基，及代表該構造物之“門額” (包括東門、郡南第一關、迎恩等)。 在特色上，訓風砲台為雙弧形制，係順著護城河及鳳山溪之地勢而建，面向東南；額題「訓風」是三砲台中門額唯一內向者，兩字題於清道光18年(1838)，左右以灰塑夔龍及書卷圖案裝飾，為台灣其它砲台所罕見。 澄瀾砲台沿護城河而建，為八角形制，護城河、二翼弧牆及銃孔(內大外小)尚留存；平成砲台為長方形制，修復後設置數處射口，雖不見昔日之大砲，亦聊以想像當年風貌。

使用情形目前三座砲台業已修護完成，整個砲台空間除古蹟本體可至砲台頂瞭望外，附屬砲台的空間，配合景觀整修為社區鄰里公園之形式，提供當地居民休憩之用。
應重點維護之事項無
現狀今鳳山新城所存的遺蹟，只餘東便門，及其門外的四孔三墩東福橋，而曹謹於道光年間所建之六座砲臺，今僅存「訓風」、「平成」、「澄瀾」三座。

歷史沿革: 乾隆51年(1786)10月，林爽文起兵於中部，南路夥首莊大田率兩千之眾響應，後來兩度攻入興隆莊舊城(今左營舊城)，鳳山縣城陷落。乾隆53年(1788)正月福康安奉命平定南路，鑑於舊城殘破不堪，乃將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。 鳳山新城初期僅環植刺竹，編棘為籬，頗為簡陋。嘉慶5年(1800)海盜蔡牽侵犯鹿耳門，官兵疲於奔命，汪降乘機在鳳山縣起事，後兵敗被捕。知縣吳兆麟鑑於民變威脅而強化防禦工事，乃於嘉慶9年(1804)督促兵、民，興建四方共六座的城門。嘉慶10年(1805)11月蔡牽的黨羽朱濆再度騷擾鳳山縣，土匪吳淮泗等賊眾響應攻城，吳兆麟被害，都司鍾璽力戰陣亡，下埤頭新城被賊眾屯踞八十餘日。幾次民變大大衝擊新城的合宜性，於是遷回舊城的意見浮上檯面，地方要員議論紛紛。道光4年(1824)10月間爆發許尚、楊良斌之亂，新城再度被亂民攻陷，至此，地方官員決議進行舊城的改築工程。道光5年(1825)知府方傳穟倡議以官民捐輸方式籌措修建舊城的經費，在方傳穟的努力下，舊城改築工程於道光5年(1825)7月15日動工，道光6年(1826)8月15日竣工。這是台灣第一座石造城池，然而鳳山知縣與紳民皆未遷回，依然滯留新城。 道光17年(1837)正月，曹謹奉命擔任鳳山縣知縣，隨之展開大規模的水圳興築工程，是為曹公圳。隔年(1838)，曹謹在六座城門上增建城樓，復於四隅築建礮臺六座，並外濬環城濠塹再注入曹公圳圳水而成為護城河，使得新城的防禦能力大大提昇。在曹謹積極的建設下，新城更為堅固，民生社會也更為穩定。因此，縱然道光23年(1843)間福建巡撫程祖洛明令速速遷回舊城，官民依然延宕不遷。為了釐清其中問題，閩浙總督劉韻珂派人實地調查兩城的概況，舊城沒落蕭條，而新城受到紳民所喜愛。道光27年(1847)劉韻珂會同福建巡撫徐繼畬向道光皇帝上奏，擬議鳳山縣城定於下埤頭街新城，最後獲得皇帝的應允，雙城之爭終告結束。可見，新城已經是當時鳳山縣無法替代的政經中心。自此之後，僅咸豐4年(1854)參將曾元福修建土牆，使新城更為完善。 日治初期鳳山新城仍是地方重鎮，不過位於西邊的打狗港日益受到重視，因此通往打狗地區的道路日益重要。明治36年(1903)，為了擴建鳳山街到苓雅寮道路而拆毀西門。明治40年(1907)間，南部鐵道系統從打狗向東延長至九曲堂，鳳山也設置停車場，隨之新道路的需求而局部拆毀北面的土牆和刺竹圍籬，總之，都市發展趨勢日益衝擊既有的縣城樣貌。昭和3年(1928)，地方政府以改善公共衛生為由，將清領時期縣城既有土牆和兩萬多株的刺竹加以剷除，並進行今日中山路和光遠路的取直工程。至此，清領時期鳳山新城僅餘留部分殘跡，包括：東便門(三民路底)、平成砲台(曹公路旁)、訓風砲台(中山路旁)、澄瀾砲台(立志街旁)等。而東便門門外的東福橋因民國90年(2001)潭美颱風來襲倒塌，目前二座橋墩已移至岸上保存。

外觀特徵: 1.東便門及東福橋：東便門為單栱道之城門建築咾咕石結構物，表面被覆以水泥沙漿，並於城門內栱間嵌入鋼筋便梯以便登城頂。 城門頂舖紅色地磚，四周外緣鋼筋露頭結以鐵線圍繞。而東福橋是目前全台僅存的清代橋樑之一，六角形的船形橋墩，橋面石板雖然尚存，然而已加舖混凝土與瀝青道路。 2.三砲台：三座砲台訓風、澄瀾、平成，整體構築皆以咾咕石組砌牆基，及代表該構造物之“門額” (包括東門、郡南第一關、迎恩等)。 在特色上，訓風砲台為雙弧形制，係順著護城河及鳳山溪之地勢而建，面向東南；額題「訓風」是三砲台中門額唯一內向者，兩字題於清道光18年(1838)，左右以灰塑夔龍及書卷圖案裝飾，為台灣其它砲台所罕見。 澄瀾砲台沿護城河而建，為八角形制，護城河、二翼弧牆及銃孔(內大外小)尚留存；平成砲台為長方形制，修復後設置數處射口，雖不見昔日之大砲，亦聊以想像當年風貌。

使用情形: 目前三座砲台業已修護完成，整個砲台空間除古蹟本體可至砲台頂瞭望外，附屬砲台的空間，配合景觀整修為社區鄰里公園之形式，提供當地居民休憩之用。

現狀: 今鳳山新城所存的遺蹟，只餘東便門，及其門外的四孔三墩東福橋，而曹謹於道光年間所建之六座砲臺，今僅存「訓風」、「平成」、「澄瀾」三座。
