You see baskets of freshly-picked tangerines, and a bunch of hardy bananas on a wooden table. Wearing simple clothing and a bashful smile, your amiable host, Jin-Tian, approaches. Pointing to the freshly harvested bananas on the table, he says, “Have some! Don’t be shy!” This place exudes a generous and friendly ambiance. With no neighbors in sight, you quickly make the acquaintance of the sky, the earth, and the abundant wildlife.You walk with Jin-Tian up a sloping road towards the independent lodging area. Beautiful primrose blossoms line the road, butterflies dancing between them. Xiao Hei and the endless mountain scenery accompany you on your stroll as you feel your mind and body being cleansed. Jin-Tian points to the distant mountains on either side, saying, “Our land extends from here to there…” He names for you the many tree and plant species along the way; tomatoes, persimmons, dragon fruit, banana... “Listen! That’s the call of the muntjac deer!” Pointing once again to the far off mountain ridge, “Formosan serows inhabit those mountains!” Jin-Tian is even able to climb up the wire obstacle course they have set up with his bare hands, or quickly ascend the trees above the river valley like a young boy playing in the mountains. Following his footsteps, you feel like you are exploring a treasure chest full of natural wonders, discovering endless surprises.A mountain household with a view of the Pacific OceanAfter climbing the steep road, you catch your breath on the mountain terrace looking out between the high mountains. Suddenly you catch a glimpse of light reflecting off azure waters: the faraway Pacific Ocean. As the sea breeze blows by and you take a deep breath, you feel just like a mountain spirit.Three white bungalows sit to one side of the road, simple and elegant. French windows allow the beautiful scenery to merge into each residence. In the Maroon Oriole Residence, furnished in the style of a Chinese court, you feel immersed in the refinement of the pink and red decor. In the mustard yellow decor of the Collared Scops Owl Residence, you enter the magnificence of classical European style. The colors of the Formosan Blue Magpie Residence are just as lively as the bird for which it is named, with elements of maritime Greece mixed in, giving you the impression of an ocean voyage. No matter which residence you inhabit, all have a spacious balcony overlooking the mountains, and a large bathtub in a roomy bathroom to help spoil your world-weary body.Make your way to a world-class villa with unparallelled mountain viewsThe sky is still light after you finish checking in, and Xiao Hei seems to know that you want to go out to play, bouncing around and wagging his tail. With expectation and excitement, you and your friends jump aboard the little blue work truck as the steep mountain road and beautiful environs foretell of the unimaginable journey to come. Jin-Tian stops the truck on a flat section of the hillside as a crested goshawk spirals above your head and into the distance. Looking down you see the Changbin plains and the Pacific Ocean beyond. You seem to be able to make out Green Island in the fog off the coast. Hanging from a large tree by the hillside is a swing, and after being reassured by Jin-Tian, you bravely give it a try. Your extended legs feel the rushing of the wind as you surge forward, gripping the ropes tightly in your hands. You feel like a small bird enjoying the swiftness of soaring through the air. You feel you might even be able to jump into the Pacific Ocean before you. You can’t believe that such a private, world-class scenic spot could exist here in Taiwan.After dark, Jin-Tian’s wife, Mei-jyu, prepares a full table of organic cuisine for you. After dinner, you chat with your friends in the open air mountainside dining area, enjoying the comforts of this farming household. Description台東｜竹湖山居 無限の喜びが隠された山の旅へ曲がりくねった山道を車で進む。あまりの静けさに秘境に続く道かと思えたが、車のウィンドウを下げると、大自然の熱烈な歓迎を受け、思わずわくわくさせられる。民宿「竹湖山居」もこんな場所だ。つまり、一見静かに思えて、実ははつらつとした空気をたたえた場所なのだ。山奥に隠された自然の宝箱到着すると、元気な黒い子犬が車の方まで走り寄って出迎えてくれた。すぐそばにある木製のテーブルの上には、摘みたての「美人柑」と呼ばれるオレンジがいっぱいに入れられたかごと太った短いバナナのような「芭蕉」が無造作に置かれている。オーナーの頼さんが親しみやすい笑顔をたたえて歩いてくる。自家栽培だという芭蕉を指さして「食べなよ！遠慮はいらないよ！」と声をかけてくれた。ここでは、最も自然な人々の温かさが感じられる。ご近所さんなんていないけど、青空と山鳥が心ゆくまで付き添ってくれるだろう。頼さんと一緒に坂道に沿って一棟一棟並ぶ白い建物の方へ歩いていく。道の脇にはオシロイバナが鮮やかに咲き誇り、蝶々がひらひらと舞っている。可愛い子犬のクロとどこまでも続く山々。歩くたびに心と体が洗われていくような気さえしてくる。遠くの方に見える2つの山を指さして「こっからここまでが、うちの」と話す頼さん。トマトにカキ、ドラゴンフルーツ、芭蕉…たくさん生えている木々を一つ一つ数えていく。そして頼さんがまた言う。「よく聞いて！これがキョンの鳴き声だよ」そして今度は遠くの山を指して、「ほら、てっぺんの方にタイワンカモシカがいる！」と教えてくれる。いとも簡単に針金をつたって進んだり、川のそばの木を登ったりできる頼さん。後ろについて歩いているだけで、驚きが絶えない。まるで、自然に隠された宝箱の中にいるようだ。太平洋が見える森の中の家坂道を上り終え、山の上にある休憩場で一休み。遠くに見える山と山の隙間からは青くきらきら光るものが見える。太平洋だ。海風が吹いてくる。深呼吸をすると、山の妖精になったかのような気分になる。3棟並ぶ白い平屋。シンプルだが、上品さが漂う。透明な大きなガラス窓には美しい景色が映っており、室内でも豊かな自然を味わうことができる。中国の宮廷を思わせる「朱鸝屋」では、朱色の優雅な空間に包まれ、リラックスした休暇を過ごすことができる。マスタードカラーが印象的な「角鶚屋」では、ヨーロッパさながらの落ち着いたクラシックな雰囲気が味わえる。「藍鵲屋」は、はつらつとした爽やかな室内だ。ギリシャの海のような風情があり、まるで海の中を泳いでいるかのような気分になる。どの部屋も、山に面したバルコニーと広々とした浴槽が付いている。都会で疲れた体を思いっきり癒してくれるだろう。素晴らしい絶景！とっておきの秘密基地へチェックインを済ませ、外を眺めると、外はまだ明るいのに気づく。クロはどこに行くのかわかったかのように、しっぽを勢いよく揺らしながら元気に飛び跳ねている。農作業を終えた頼さんに体験ツアーへ出発だと声をかけられた。楽しみで心が弾む。友人たちと軽トラに乗り込んだ。でこぼこな山道と美しい景色が不思議な旅の幕開けの合図だ。なだらかな坂道の脇に頼さんが車を止める。その時、カンムリオオタカが頭の上を旋回したのが分かった。下の方を見下ろすと、長浜の平原と太平洋が広がっていた。霧の向こうにはかすかに離島の緑島が見える。崖のそばの大木にぶら下がっているのは、ブランコだ。頼さんの絶対に大丈夫という言葉を信じて勇気を振り絞る。「いち、にぃの、さんっ！」空中にぶら下がる足で風の動きを感じながら、ブランコの紐を力いっぱい握りしめて前に振り上がる。小鳥のように空に舞い上がる快感を噛みしめると同時に、目の前の太平洋に突っ込みそうな感覚にも襲われる…。台湾でこんな秘密基地に出会えるとは…本当に素晴らしい、とっておきの場所だ。外が暗くなると、頼さんと奥さんの美菊さんが有機食材を使った健康でおいしい料理を準備してくれる。山の中にある屋外のエリアで仲間たちと会話しながらディナーを楽しもう。農家での生活の温かさが感じられるだろう。食事を終えたら、再び頼さんと探検に出かけよう。夜の山の中を散策すれば、キョンやモモンガ、フクロウに出会えるだろう。朝日が昇ったら、色鮮やかで見た目にもおいしいベジタリアン朝食をいただく。山奥の生活の素晴らしさを体感し、大自然が与えてくれる喜びを見つけることができた気がする。ここを発つ時には、離れがたい気持ちを感謝の心に改めよう。大自然の恵みと、大自然への愛を惜しみなく分け与えてくれた頼さんと美菊さんに感謝だ。

Description: 台東｜竹湖山居 無限の喜びが隠された山の旅へ曲がりくねった山道を車で進む。あまりの静けさに秘境に続く道かと思えたが、車のウィンドウを下げると、大自然の熱烈な歓迎を受け、思わずわくわくさせられる。民宿「竹湖山居」もこんな場所だ。つまり、一見静かに思えて、実ははつらつとした空気をたたえた場所なのだ。山奥に隠された自然の宝箱到着すると、元気な黒い子犬が車の方まで走り寄って出迎えてくれた。すぐそばにある木製のテーブルの上には、摘みたての「美人柑」と呼ばれるオレンジがいっぱいに入れられたかごと太った短いバナナのような「芭蕉」が無造作に置かれている。オーナーの頼さんが親しみやすい笑顔をたたえて歩いてくる。自家栽培だという芭蕉を指さして「食べなよ！遠慮はいらないよ！」と声をかけてくれた。ここでは、最も自然な人々の温かさが感じられる。ご近所さんなんていないけど、青空と山鳥が心ゆくまで付き添ってくれるだろう。頼さんと一緒に坂道に沿って一棟一棟並ぶ白い建物の方へ歩いていく。道の脇にはオシロイバナが鮮やかに咲き誇り、蝶々がひらひらと舞っている。可愛い子犬のクロとどこまでも続く山々。歩くたびに心と体が洗われていくような気さえしてくる。遠くの方に見える2つの山を指さして「こっからここまでが、うちの」と話す頼さん。トマトにカキ、ドラゴンフルーツ、芭蕉…たくさん生えている木々を一つ一つ数えていく。そして頼さんがまた言う。「よく聞いて！これがキョンの鳴き声だよ」そして今度は遠くの山を指して、「ほら、てっぺんの方にタイワンカモシカがいる！」と教えてくれる。いとも簡単に針金をつたって進んだり、川のそばの木を登ったりできる頼さん。後ろについて歩いているだけで、驚きが絶えない。まるで、自然に隠された宝箱の中にいるようだ。太平洋が見える森の中の家坂道を上り終え、山の上にある休憩場で一休み。遠くに見える山と山の隙間からは青くきらきら光るものが見える。太平洋だ。海風が吹いてくる。深呼吸をすると、山の妖精になったかのような気分になる。3棟並ぶ白い平屋。シンプルだが、上品さが漂う。透明な大きなガラス窓には美しい景色が映っており、室内でも豊かな自然を味わうことができる。中国の宮廷を思わせる「朱鸝屋」では、朱色の優雅な空間に包まれ、リラックスした休暇を過ごすことができる。マスタードカラーが印象的な「角鶚屋」では、ヨーロッパさながらの落ち着いたクラシックな雰囲気が味わえる。「藍鵲屋」は、はつらつとした爽やかな室内だ。ギリシャの海のような風情があり、まるで海の中を泳いでいるかのような気分になる。どの部屋も、山に面したバルコニーと広々とした浴槽が付いている。都会で疲れた体を思いっきり癒してくれるだろう。素晴らしい絶景！とっておきの秘密基地へチェックインを済ませ、外を眺めると、外はまだ明るいのに気づく。クロはどこに行くのかわかったかのように、しっぽを勢いよく揺らしながら元気に飛び跳ねている。農作業を終えた頼さんに体験ツアーへ出発だと声をかけられた。楽しみで心が弾む。友人たちと軽トラに乗り込んだ。でこぼこな山道と美しい景色が不思議な旅の幕開けの合図だ。なだらかな坂道の脇に頼さんが車を止める。その時、カンムリオオタカが頭の上を旋回したのが分かった。下の方を見下ろすと、長浜の平原と太平洋が広がっていた。霧の向こうにはかすかに離島の緑島が見える。崖のそばの大木にぶら下がっているのは、ブランコだ。頼さんの絶対に大丈夫という言葉を信じて勇気を振り絞る。「いち、にぃの、さんっ！」空中にぶら下がる足で風の動きを感じながら、ブランコの紐を力いっぱい握りしめて前に振り上がる。小鳥のように空に舞い上がる快感を噛みしめると同時に、目の前の太平洋に突っ込みそうな感覚にも襲われる…。台湾でこんな秘密基地に出会えるとは…本当に素晴らしい、とっておきの場所だ。外が暗くなると、頼さんと奥さんの美菊さんが有機食材を使った健康でおいしい料理を準備してくれる。山の中にある屋外のエリアで仲間たちと会話しながらディナーを楽しもう。農家での生活の温かさが感じられるだろう。食事を終えたら、再び頼さんと探検に出かけよう。夜の山の中を散策すれば、キョンやモモンガ、フクロウに出会えるだろう。朝日が昇ったら、色鮮やかで見た目にもおいしいベジタリアン朝食をいただく。山奥の生活の素晴らしさを体感し、大自然が与えてくれる喜びを見つけることができた気がする。ここを発つ時には、離れがたい気持ちを感謝の心に改めよう。大自然の恵みと、大自然への愛を惜しみなく分け与えてくれた頼さんと美菊さんに感謝だ。
