| 歷史沿革 | 乾隆51年(1786)10月，林爽文起兵於中部，南路夥首莊大田率兩千之眾響應，後來兩度攻入興隆莊舊城(今左營舊城)，鳳山縣城陷落。乾隆53年(1788)正月福康安奉命平定南路，鑑於舊城殘破不堪，乃將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。
鳳山新城初期僅環植刺竹，編棘為籬，頗為簡陋。嘉慶5年(1800)海盜蔡牽侵犯鹿耳門，官兵疲於奔命，汪降乘機在鳳山縣起事，後兵敗被捕。知縣吳兆麟鑑於民變威脅而強化防禦工事，乃於嘉慶9年(1804)督促兵、民，興建四方共六座的城門。嘉慶10年(1805)11月蔡牽的黨羽朱濆再度騷擾鳳山縣，土匪吳淮泗等賊眾響應攻城，吳兆麟被害，都司鍾璽力戰陣亡，下埤頭新城被賊眾屯踞八十餘日。幾次民變大大衝擊新城的合宜性，於是遷回舊城的意見浮上檯面，地方要員議論紛紛。道光4年(1824)10月間爆發許尚、楊良斌之亂，新城再度被亂民攻陷，至此，地方官員決議進行舊城的改築工程。道光5年(1825)知府方傳穟倡議以官民捐輸方式籌措修建舊城的經費，在方傳穟的努力下，舊城改築工程於道光5年(1825)7月15日動工，道光6年(1826)8月15日竣工。這是台灣第一座石造城池，然而鳳山知縣與紳民皆未遷回，依然滯留新城。
道光17年(1837)正月，曹謹奉命擔任鳳山縣知縣，隨之展開大規模的水圳興築工程，是為曹公圳。隔年(1838)，曹謹在六座城門上增建城樓，復於四隅築建礮臺六座，並外濬環城濠塹再注入曹公圳圳水而成為護城河，使得新城的防禦能力大大提昇。在曹謹積極的建設下，新城更為堅固，民生社會也更為穩定。因此，縱然道光23年(1843)間福建巡撫程祖洛明令速速遷回舊城，官民依然延宕不遷。為了釐清其中問題，閩浙總督劉韻珂派人實地調查兩城的概況，舊城沒落蕭條，而新城受到紳民所喜愛。道光27年(1847)劉韻珂會同福建巡撫徐繼畬向道光皇帝上奏，擬議鳳山縣城定於下埤頭街新城，最後獲得皇帝的應允，雙城之爭終告結束。可見，新城已經是當時鳳山縣無法替代的政經中心。自此之後，僅咸豐4年(1854)參將曾元福修建土牆，使新城更為完善。
日治初期鳳山新城仍是地方重鎮，不過位於西邊的打狗港日益受到重視，因此通往打狗地區的道路日益重要。明治36年(1903)，為了擴建鳳山街到苓雅寮道路而拆毀西門。明治40年(1907)間，南部鐵道系統從打狗向東延長至九曲堂，鳳山也設置停車場，隨之新道路的需求而局部拆毀北面的土牆和刺竹圍籬，總之，都市發展趨勢日益衝擊既有的縣城樣貌。昭和3年(1928)，地方政府以改善公共衛生為由，將清領時期縣城既有土牆和兩萬多株的刺竹加以剷除，並進行今日中山路和光遠路的取直工程。至此，清領時期鳳山新城僅餘留部分殘跡，包括：東便門(三民路底)、平成砲台(曹公路旁)、訓風砲台(中山路旁)、澄瀾砲台(立志街旁)等。而東便門門外的東福橋因民國90年(2001)潭美颱風來襲倒塌，目前二座橋墩已移至岸上保存。 |

| 外觀特徵 | 1.東便門及東福橋：東便門為單栱道之城門建築咾咕石結構物，表面被覆以水泥沙漿，並於城門內栱間嵌入鋼筋便梯以便登城頂。
城門頂舖紅色地磚，四周外緣鋼筋露頭結以鐵線圍繞。而東福橋是目前全台僅存的清代橋樑之一，六角形的船形橋墩，橋面石板雖然尚存，然而已加舖混凝土與瀝青道路。
2.三砲台：三座砲台訓風、澄瀾、平成，整體構築皆以咾咕石組砌牆基，及代表該構造物之“門額” (包括東門、郡南第一關、迎恩等)。
在特色上，訓風砲台為雙弧形制，係順著護城河及鳳山溪之地勢而建，面向東南；額題「訓風」是三砲台中門額唯一內向者，兩字題於清道光18年(1838)，左右以灰塑夔龍及書卷圖案裝飾，為台灣其它砲台所罕見。
澄瀾砲台沿護城河而建，為八角形制，護城河、二翼弧牆及銃孔(內大外小)尚留存；平成砲台為長方形制，修復後設置數處射口，雖不見昔日之大砲，亦聊以想像當年風貌。 |

| 歷史沿革: 乾隆51年(1786)10月，林爽文起兵於中部，南路夥首莊大田率兩千之眾響應，後來兩度攻入興隆莊舊城(今左營舊城)，鳳山縣城陷落。乾隆53年(1788)正月福康安奉命平定南路，鑑於舊城殘破不堪，乃將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。
鳳山新城初期僅環植刺竹，編棘為籬，頗為簡陋。嘉慶5年(1800)海盜蔡牽侵犯鹿耳門，官兵疲於奔命，汪降乘機在鳳山縣起事，後兵敗被捕。知縣吳兆麟鑑於民變威脅而強化防禦工事，乃於嘉慶9年(1804)督促兵、民，興建四方共六座的城門。嘉慶10年(1805)11月蔡牽的黨羽朱濆再度騷擾鳳山縣，土匪吳淮泗等賊眾響應攻城，吳兆麟被害，都司鍾璽力戰陣亡，下埤頭新城被賊眾屯踞八十餘日。幾次民變大大衝擊新城的合宜性，於是遷回舊城的意見浮上檯面，地方要員議論紛紛。道光4年(1824)10月間爆發許尚、楊良斌之亂，新城再度被亂民攻陷，至此，地方官員決議進行舊城的改築工程。道光5年(1825)知府方傳穟倡議以官民捐輸方式籌措修建舊城的經費，在方傳穟的努力下，舊城改築工程於道光5年(1825)7月15日動工，道光6年(1826)8月15日竣工。這是台灣第一座石造城池，然而鳳山知縣與紳民皆未遷回，依然滯留新城。
道光17年(1837)正月，曹謹奉命擔任鳳山縣知縣，隨之展開大規模的水圳興築工程，是為曹公圳。隔年(1838)，曹謹在六座城門上增建城樓，復於四隅築建礮臺六座，並外濬環城濠塹再注入曹公圳圳水而成為護城河，使得新城的防禦能力大大提昇。在曹謹積極的建設下，新城更為堅固，民生社會也更為穩定。因此，縱然道光23年(1843)間福建巡撫程祖洛明令速速遷回舊城，官民依然延宕不遷。為了釐清其中問題，閩浙總督劉韻珂派人實地調查兩城的概況，舊城沒落蕭條，而新城受到紳民所喜愛。道光27年(1847)劉韻珂會同福建巡撫徐繼畬向道光皇帝上奏，擬議鳳山縣城定於下埤頭街新城，最後獲得皇帝的應允，雙城之爭終告結束。可見，新城已經是當時鳳山縣無法替代的政經中心。自此之後，僅咸豐4年(1854)參將曾元福修建土牆，使新城更為完善。
日治初期鳳山新城仍是地方重鎮，不過位於西邊的打狗港日益受到重視，因此通往打狗地區的道路日益重要。明治36年(1903)，為了擴建鳳山街到苓雅寮道路而拆毀西門。明治40年(1907)間，南部鐵道系統從打狗向東延長至九曲堂，鳳山也設置停車場，隨之新道路的需求而局部拆毀北面的土牆和刺竹圍籬，總之，都市發展趨勢日益衝擊既有的縣城樣貌。昭和3年(1928)，地方政府以改善公共衛生為由，將清領時期縣城既有土牆和兩萬多株的刺竹加以剷除，並進行今日中山路和光遠路的取直工程。至此，清領時期鳳山新城僅餘留部分殘跡，包括：東便門(三民路底)、平成砲台(曹公路旁)、訓風砲台(中山路旁)、澄瀾砲台(立志街旁)等。而東便門門外的東福橋因民國90年(2001)潭美颱風來襲倒塌，目前二座橋墩已移至岸上保存。 |

| 外觀特徵: 1.東便門及東福橋：東便門為單栱道之城門建築咾咕石結構物，表面被覆以水泥沙漿，並於城門內栱間嵌入鋼筋便梯以便登城頂。
城門頂舖紅色地磚，四周外緣鋼筋露頭結以鐵線圍繞。而東福橋是目前全台僅存的清代橋樑之一，六角形的船形橋墩，橋面石板雖然尚存，然而已加舖混凝土與瀝青道路。
2.三砲台：三座砲台訓風、澄瀾、平成，整體構築皆以咾咕石組砌牆基，及代表該構造物之“門額” (包括東門、郡南第一關、迎恩等)。
在特色上，訓風砲台為雙弧形制，係順著護城河及鳳山溪之地勢而建，面向東南；額題「訓風」是三砲台中門額唯一內向者，兩字題於清道光18年(1838)，左右以灰塑夔龍及書卷圖案裝飾，為台灣其它砲台所罕見。
澄瀾砲台沿護城河而建，為八角形制，護城河、二翼弧牆及銃孔(內大外小)尚留存；平成砲台為長方形制，修復後設置數處射口，雖不見昔日之大砲，亦聊以想像當年風貌。 |

| 歷史沿革 | 化龍一村座落之基地，清代為宜蘭地區最重要的軍事基地，武營遺址；日治時期後日人改為練兵場、憲兵分屯中隊，二次大戰期間作為日軍野戰醫院，名為「衛戍醫院」，為提供醫院醫官、護士住宿，日本政府在醫院週邊興建日式房舍作為醫療人員的宿舍及儲物間等；民國38年(1949)，國民政府撤離至台灣，接收日遺房舍，將本來在大陸天津生產通訊器材和電池的聯勤204廠撤遷至此，而民國46年(1957)軍方因電池需求急速增加，原來產量不敷使用，即利用美援在礁溪興建新廠，而原宜蘭市廠房改作為聯勤204廠的倉庫。
聯勤204廠接管週邊的日遺房舍，提供給服務於電池廠的軍官，共56戶；後因宿舍不敷使用，約於民國53年由聯勤電池廠自行出資新建19戶，其中10間比較大間，9戶小間，並於民國54年分發，民國55年遷入，其分發原則係依服務年資、考績及眷口數。
化龍一村土地權屬原為國有財產局，惟使用權歸屬聯勤總部，管理權歸屬陸軍總部戰時期的聯勤204廠。近年經宜蘭縣政府與國防部協議交換土地，現辦理都更計畫相關作業。 |

| 外觀特徵 | 化龍一村的眷舍型態大致上可分為二種類型：日式木造房舍及國軍新建的磚造眷舍。圍繞著聯勤前204廠的建築物幾乎是日治時期遺留下來的日式木造房舍，目前保存有三種建築型式，共16棟37戶，分別是獨門獨院複簷式屋頂木造房舍10棟，共10戶，其中有1戶是少將的宿舍（曾任廠長），位於武營街41號；雙併複簷式屋頂木造房舍1棟，共2戶，其中有1戶是少將的宿舍（曾任廠長）, 位於武營街71巷12號；連棟式雙坡、四坡屋頂木造房舍5棟，共25戶。
後期因宿舍不敷使用，約民國53年國軍新建19戶，分別在基地東南隅空地與建2棟6戶，屬甲種眷舍及日遺房舍後房興建1棟4戶，屬兩種眷舍56戶。惟後期有些眷戶在自家庭院及附近增建，多以鐵皮屋頂構築。最獨特的是位於武營街83號眷戶在前庭增建兩層樓的磚造房舍，二樓留設陽台，欄杆以花格磚砌築，是眷村內惟一建築兩層樓的建物。樸素而簡單，別有時代風味，但建物之細部及精緻度較不足。 |
| 室內特徵 | 北側三棟日式官舍建物之內部空間，為日式建築格局，高架地板，格局清晰，有許多日式和式空間，外部並延伸一些後期私自加建之水泥違建。南側五棟磚造RC建物過去為眷舍，為住宅使用，格局皆為簡單之住宅平面，靠南側之兩棟為集體長型住宅，住戶單元更小，隔間多，空間低矮。 |

| 歷史沿革: 化龍一村座落之基地，清代為宜蘭地區最重要的軍事基地，武營遺址；日治時期後日人改為練兵場、憲兵分屯中隊，二次大戰期間作為日軍野戰醫院，名為「衛戍醫院」，為提供醫院醫官、護士住宿，日本政府在醫院週邊興建日式房舍作為醫療人員的宿舍及儲物間等；民國38年(1949)，國民政府撤離至台灣，接收日遺房舍，將本來在大陸天津生產通訊器材和電池的聯勤204廠撤遷至此，而民國46年(1957)軍方因電池需求急速增加，原來產量不敷使用，即利用美援在礁溪興建新廠，而原宜蘭市廠房改作為聯勤204廠的倉庫。
聯勤204廠接管週邊的日遺房舍，提供給服務於電池廠的軍官，共56戶；後因宿舍不敷使用，約於民國53年由聯勤電池廠自行出資新建19戶，其中10間比較大間，9戶小間，並於民國54年分發，民國55年遷入，其分發原則係依服務年資、考績及眷口數。
化龍一村土地權屬原為國有財產局，惟使用權歸屬聯勤總部，管理權歸屬陸軍總部戰時期的聯勤204廠。近年經宜蘭縣政府與國防部協議交換土地，現辦理都更計畫相關作業。 |

| 外觀特徵: 化龍一村的眷舍型態大致上可分為二種類型：日式木造房舍及國軍新建的磚造眷舍。圍繞著聯勤前204廠的建築物幾乎是日治時期遺留下來的日式木造房舍，目前保存有三種建築型式，共16棟37戶，分別是獨門獨院複簷式屋頂木造房舍10棟，共10戶，其中有1戶是少將的宿舍（曾任廠長），位於武營街41號；雙併複簷式屋頂木造房舍1棟，共2戶，其中有1戶是少將的宿舍（曾任廠長）, 位於武營街71巷12號；連棟式雙坡、四坡屋頂木造房舍5棟，共25戶。
後期因宿舍不敷使用，約民國53年國軍新建19戶，分別在基地東南隅空地與建2棟6戶，屬甲種眷舍及日遺房舍後房興建1棟4戶，屬兩種眷舍56戶。惟後期有些眷戶在自家庭院及附近增建，多以鐵皮屋頂構築。最獨特的是位於武營街83號眷戶在前庭增建兩層樓的磚造房舍，二樓留設陽台，欄杆以花格磚砌築，是眷村內惟一建築兩層樓的建物。樸素而簡單，別有時代風味，但建物之細部及精緻度較不足。 |
| 室內特徵: 北側三棟日式官舍建物之內部空間，為日式建築格局，高架地板，格局清晰，有許多日式和式空間，外部並延伸一些後期私自加建之水泥違建。南側五棟磚造RC建物過去為眷舍，為住宅使用，格局皆為簡單之住宅平面，靠南側之兩棟為集體長型住宅，住戶單元更小，隔間多，空間低矮。 |

| 歷史沿革 | 書院是近代國民教育普及之前的主要教育機構之一，對於開啟民智有著相當的重要性。台灣被納入清政府版圖之後，在歷任治台官員的主導與獎勵之下，逐漸將書院在台推展開來，這對於台灣文風有著重要的貢獻。
清代鳳山縣地區最早的書院是位於興隆庄舊城(今左營舊城)城北文廟左側的屏山書院，康熙49年(1710)由知縣宋永清興建，屬義學性質。雍正4年(1726)，知縣蕭震遷移至城內重建，始成書院規模。乾隆51年林爽文事件引發莊大田等攻毀舊城，屏山書院也在此次動亂終毀於一旦。乾隆53年(1788)間，欽差大臣福康安鑒於舊城殘破不堪，奏准將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。此後，新城在地方政府和士紳的建設下，取代舊城而為政經和文教中心。鳳儀書院即為文教中心的具體象徵。
嘉慶19年(1814)吳性誠攝理鳳山知縣，鑒於縣治遷移至新城之後，卻遲遲未有文教組織，為了提振文風，乃向地方士紳倡建書院。候選訓導歲貢生張廷欽率先呼應，並獲得奮社的大力支持，總之，在地方官員與紳民共同籌得資金之下，由張廷欽負責整體的興建工程。書院落成時，奮社將歷年累積資產約四千餘元，捐充書院的膏火。緣此歷史背景，鳳儀書院初期的建築格局，前有講堂為主要授課空間，兩廂設學舍三，其中備有書桌供生童讀書，亦為歲、科童試所在；後有廳事，是為行政中心。除此之外，為感念奮社捐資，乃將文昌與奎星、倉聖等神位，一同合祀，並造敬字亭於講堂之左側。後來，幾任知縣和經理的士紳曾階段性擴建，至光緒20年(1894)間，鳳儀書院的規模共屋三十七間，正中廳事三間、左右官廳房各二間、兩廊學舍十二間、講堂三間、頭門五間、義倉九間、聖蹟庫一間，乃全台規模最大的書院。
日治時期，台灣總督府大力推廣新式教育體制，書院因而日漸沒落，屋舍逐年殘破。戰後，屋舍相繼被租佔戶所用，書院格局嚴重受破壞。民國74年(1985)11月13日指定為三級古蹟，而在高雄縣政府取得土地使用權後，便辦理佔住戶遷移，並於民國96年(2007)年發包整修，102年已完工，103年10月31日舉行開幕儀式，重啟門扉，103年11月1日正式開放參觀。 |

| 外觀特徵 | 整個書院布局可分為兩個部分，一為鳳儀書院，二為試院；從空間復原的觀點而言，書院格局外埕有義倉，進前廳後內埕有一敬字亭。再往後為講堂空間，左右為學舍。
試院部分，進前廳後，左右廂為閩童廊號，往內走為大堂，經一穿心亭旁有粵童廊號，後為閱卷後廳與官房，最後還有一奎樓。不過，試院部分所剩不多。
在一些細部作法上：
1.台基與地坪：前廳、講堂及後廳之台基邊緣均砌築花崗石條，進石條寬28~34公分不等，厚約6公分，長短不一。
柱珠下方亦使用花崗石；地坪，可能為尺磚或尺二磚斜鋪；左右學舍使用一般小式建築的作法，以清水磚豎砌收頭。
2.牆體：以下石上磚結構為主，石材用硓咕石，在背立面、側立面及圍牆檻牆部份多使用亂石砌，再以薄磚收邊；主要建築物則分別以淺刻方式呈現出六角形、八角形及圓形等之四方連續圖案；磚牆便用斗砌磚結構，砌築的方法有「三順一丁」及「一順一丁」兩種。
鳳儀書院前後三進山牆外觀各不相同，前廳鳥踏線以上以白灰粉刷，講堂除檻牆外，牆面均粉刷白灰，而後廳則是鳥踏以上斗砌磚牆外露；前廳正面的櫃台腳以紅磚疊砌而成，而不是以整塊石材雕砌，作法特別。
3.屋頂及屋脊：屋頂鋪作僅前廳使用筒瓦，其它部份均使用板瓦。屋脊以磚砌築，脊堵以泥塑剪黏裝飾。 |

| 歷史沿革: 書院是近代國民教育普及之前的主要教育機構之一，對於開啟民智有著相當的重要性。台灣被納入清政府版圖之後，在歷任治台官員的主導與獎勵之下，逐漸將書院在台推展開來，這對於台灣文風有著重要的貢獻。
清代鳳山縣地區最早的書院是位於興隆庄舊城(今左營舊城)城北文廟左側的屏山書院，康熙49年(1710)由知縣宋永清興建，屬義學性質。雍正4年(1726)，知縣蕭震遷移至城內重建，始成書院規模。乾隆51年林爽文事件引發莊大田等攻毀舊城，屏山書院也在此次動亂終毀於一旦。乾隆53年(1788)間，欽差大臣福康安鑒於舊城殘破不堪，奏准將縣城遷移至下埤頭街(今鳳山區)，是為鳳山新城。此後，新城在地方政府和士紳的建設下，取代舊城而為政經和文教中心。鳳儀書院即為文教中心的具體象徵。
嘉慶19年(1814)吳性誠攝理鳳山知縣，鑒於縣治遷移至新城之後，卻遲遲未有文教組織，為了提振文風，乃向地方士紳倡建書院。候選訓導歲貢生張廷欽率先呼應，並獲得奮社的大力支持，總之，在地方官員與紳民共同籌得資金之下，由張廷欽負責整體的興建工程。書院落成時，奮社將歷年累積資產約四千餘元，捐充書院的膏火。緣此歷史背景，鳳儀書院初期的建築格局，前有講堂為主要授課空間，兩廂設學舍三，其中備有書桌供生童讀書，亦為歲、科童試所在；後有廳事，是為行政中心。除此之外，為感念奮社捐資，乃將文昌與奎星、倉聖等神位，一同合祀，並造敬字亭於講堂之左側。後來，幾任知縣和經理的士紳曾階段性擴建，至光緒20年(1894)間，鳳儀書院的規模共屋三十七間，正中廳事三間、左右官廳房各二間、兩廊學舍十二間、講堂三間、頭門五間、義倉九間、聖蹟庫一間，乃全台規模最大的書院。
日治時期，台灣總督府大力推廣新式教育體制，書院因而日漸沒落，屋舍逐年殘破。戰後，屋舍相繼被租佔戶所用，書院格局嚴重受破壞。民國74年(1985)11月13日指定為三級古蹟，而在高雄縣政府取得土地使用權後，便辦理佔住戶遷移，並於民國96年(2007)年發包整修，102年已完工，103年10月31日舉行開幕儀式，重啟門扉，103年11月1日正式開放參觀。 |

| 外觀特徵: 整個書院布局可分為兩個部分，一為鳳儀書院，二為試院；從空間復原的觀點而言，書院格局外埕有義倉，進前廳後內埕有一敬字亭。再往後為講堂空間，左右為學舍。
試院部分，進前廳後，左右廂為閩童廊號，往內走為大堂，經一穿心亭旁有粵童廊號，後為閱卷後廳與官房，最後還有一奎樓。不過，試院部分所剩不多。
在一些細部作法上：
1.台基與地坪：前廳、講堂及後廳之台基邊緣均砌築花崗石條，進石條寬28~34公分不等，厚約6公分，長短不一。
柱珠下方亦使用花崗石；地坪，可能為尺磚或尺二磚斜鋪；左右學舍使用一般小式建築的作法，以清水磚豎砌收頭。
2.牆體：以下石上磚結構為主，石材用硓咕石，在背立面、側立面及圍牆檻牆部份多使用亂石砌，再以薄磚收邊；主要建築物則分別以淺刻方式呈現出六角形、八角形及圓形等之四方連續圖案；磚牆便用斗砌磚結構，砌築的方法有「三順一丁」及「一順一丁」兩種。
鳳儀書院前後三進山牆外觀各不相同，前廳鳥踏線以上以白灰粉刷，講堂除檻牆外，牆面均粉刷白灰，而後廳則是鳥踏以上斗砌磚牆外露；前廳正面的櫃台腳以紅磚疊砌而成，而不是以整塊石材雕砌，作法特別。
