IEEE 1609 adopts the U.S ITS DSRC specifications and is the communication protocol technology between on board unit (OBU) and road test unit (RSU) or between vehicles. However, because the IEEE 1609.3 / 1609.4 specifications are still being drafted and are expected to be finalized at the end of 2009 for the soonest possible time. Therefore, the WAVE BOX of the foreign companies are in the experimental stage. IEEE 1609.3 WAVE network services provides LLC (Logical Link Control), network (network) and transport layer (transport layer) functions. Its architecture is divided into Data Plane, Management Plane. IEEE 1609.4 WAVE Multi-Channel Operation provides CCH (Control Channel) and SCH (Service Channel).
